Transform ideas into real products

Seeing your ideas take shape has always been the dream of the 3D designer. Today's powerful, lower-cost CAD workstations and software help make this dream a reality as never before.

Intellecta is a long established partner with Roland to bring to you a range of excellent machines that allow you and your students to take CAD designs through to Computer aided manufacture.

Roland products can be divided into several groups - 3D engraving, Cutting, 3D scanning and 3D milling.

3D Engraving

This process takes CAD files from Roland software such as Dr. Engrave, 3D Engrave and  Modela Player to create signs, engraved objects, simple casting forms and a unlimited range of products that need identification.

Cutters

These machines cut materials that are placed on a backing material. A knife cuts the film from the substrate. The design is “weeded” from the backing and then placed on the final object.

Vinyl film, copper foil, ceramic materials, cloths can be cut in this manner.

The STIKA range are an ideal education system that introduce to students a number of design opportunities.

3D Scanning

This scanning process measures the x,y and z coordinates of a part placed on the scanner bed. The resulting file can be taken into other packages for modification or the part can be machined directly. Small objects can be scanned, scaled up with the Modela Player software and then machined.

Students can make organic shapes in clay, plaster and then scan into software that enables changing the surface details ( Rhinoceros is a good examples). These parts can then be merged into a 3D CAD model.

The MDX-15 and MDX-20 machines have two identities. They can be transformed from a 3D machining system to a scanner.

3D Machining

This process takes a 3D file from popular CAD systems such as ProEngineer, Inventor, Prodesktop, Rhinoceros and others to produce real parts.  The process is termed - subtractive machining where material is removed.

The machining or milling process enables the rapid assessment of the prototypes. This is very important in the design process.
