Making a PCB with engraving

Schematic to PCB pathway04

The following figure shows the steps

1. Schematic - make the plan

This can be a hand drawn sketch showing the components and their connection. Features such as power supplies, ground lines are marked. Special software such as PCB Wizard, Livewire, Crocodile Technology can define the actual circuit design,

2. Printed circuit

Here the components are placed on the screen and linked together. The PCB Design and Make software is used to generate the engarving pathway

3. Make the board

The Roland milling machine takes the tool path and engraves the board. It can also drill the board and route the board

The PCB Design and make software handles the:

  • depth of the engraving cut
  • selection of drills and relation to holes on the layout.
  • Routing or machining process that removes the PCB from the adjoining PCB materials
