HB Assembly of Panel boards

The HB series of boards can be supplied as one complete panel of three boards.

This makes it much easier to assemble as a single entitiy. The boards are then broken out of the array and finished. There are several processes that make it really easy to get the boards finished in a reasonable time.

These are the steps that you can use to sequence the steps that follow the height of the components.

Step 1. Install and solder all resistors.

The locations for the resistors are well labelled. The actual resistor code is printed on the board.

Go to the resistor bag and assemble the resistors. See colour code.

Install all the resistors, flip the board over and solder the wires.

Trim the leads.

Step 2: Install and solder the two push button switches.

Go to the hardware bag and get the two push button switches.

Push into position on the HB 1 board.

Flip the board over and solder the 8 pins.

Step 3: Install and solder the 16pin IC socket.

Go to the hardware bag and located the 16 pin socket.

Install into position as shown in the figyre taking care that the orientation notch matches the printing on the PCB.

Flip the board over and solder.

Step 4: Install and solder the 100nf capacitors.

Go to the capacitor bag and locate the strip of 100nF capacitors.

THESE ARE YELLOW COMPONENTS

Install these into the locations on the board.

Flip the board over and solder the connections.

Step 5 : Install and solder the 1uF capacitors

Go to the capacitor bag and locate the 1uF capactors.

Install these into the locations on the board taking care to orientate the positive + mark with the mark on the PCB.

Flip the board over and solder the leads.

 Trim the leads.

Step 7: Install the light emitting diodes

Go to the semiconductor bag and locate the light emitting diodes.

Install only the red, yellow and green devices as shown on the figure.

Make sure the flat on the device matches the white marks on the board.

Flip the board over and solder the leads. Trim the leads.

Step 8: Install the 4.7uF Capacitor

Go to the capacitor bag and locate the three 4.7uF capacitors.

Install the capacitors into locations as shown on the PCB ensy\uring that the positive + mark aligns on the board.

Flip the board over and solder the leads. Trim the leads.

Step 9: Install the buzzer

Go to the hardware bag and locate the black, round buzzer.

Install this into the position labelled B1 making sure that the positive mark is towards the top of the board.

Flip the board over and solder the pins.

Step 10: Install the IR sensor

Go to the hardware bag and locate the three, three pin infra-red sensors.

Install these into the positions on the board making sure that the sensor end ( marked with a curved face) is to the outside of each board.

Flip the board over and solder the leads. Trim the excess wire.

Step 11: Install the screw terminals.

Go to the hardware bag and locate the screw terminal connectors.

Install these into the board making sure that the aperture for the wires is on the outside of the board.

Flip the board over and solder the pins.

Step 12: Install the light dependent resistor

Go to the semiconductor bag and locate the light dependent resistors.

Install these into positins marked on HB1 and HB2 boards.

Flip the boards over and solder the leads. Trim the excess leads.

Step 13: Separate the boards

With a gentle rocking action break the boards away from the surrounding frame.

You can smooth the breaks with a file or sandpaper.

Step 14: Install the IR led

Go to the semiconductor bag and loacted the infra red led. This is a clear or deep purple colour.

Install into the location marked D1 and ensure that the flat on the LED matches the mark on the PCB.

Flip the board over and solder the two leads. Trim the leads.

Step 15: Install the 10X2 headers

Go to the hardware bag and locate the three headers.

Install these into the locations at the top of the boards.

Flip the boards over and solder the pins. Note that you don’t have to solder each pin.
