3D Scanners

Scanning an object produces data that represents the features of the object. This data can then be manipulated to change the features or the object can be manufactured on a milling machine.

The scanning is sometimes called “reverse engineering” because it transforms the made object to a computer drawing.

There are two classes of scanners - mechanical contact and laser based non-contact system.

Roland produce both types of systems that have specific advantages.

The MDX-20 and MDX-15 milling machines also can double as a scanner. Just replace the cutting head with the scan head

With the PIX-30/4 you can scan all manner of objects and turn them in to 3D data files.

This data can be used for a wide range of applications, including design or 3D prototyping, as CAD data, computer graphics or in animation form as visual data for CAD/CAM design, product development and more.

Now, engineers, artists, animators, and game developershave the ability to scan objects and convert the digitized models to STL or DXF (polygons) and IGES (NURBs surfaces)formatted files economically and easily right from their desktops.

Powerful. Space efficient. Extremely easy to use.

The newest addition to Roland's innovative 3D-scanner line, the LPX-250, offers maximum scanning capability in a desktop footprint:

The LPX-1200 3D Laser Scanner quickly and accurately converts physical objects in to 3D models. The LPX-1200 is a complete, user friendly system and comes with scanner and reverse modeling software included.
